Carol Colmenero

MSW, LMSW, LASAC

Carol A. Colmenero, MSW, LMSW, LASAC. She attended Arizona State University, earning her Bachelor of Social Work degree in 2004 and then her Master of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis in 2006. Carol is a Licensed Master Social Worker and a Licensed Associate in Substance Abuse.

Over the past 12 years, she has served the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community in various capacities, showcasing her expertise in Behavioral Health. She served as the Director of the Family Advocacy Center for four years and is currently a Therapist on the Child and Family team for the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. Carol's advocacy for increased support and development of Indigenous culturally competent mental health and traumatic recovery techniques is a testament to her respect and value for the Community. Through her work with the Onk Akimel O’odham (River People) and Xalychidom Piipaash (People who live toward the water), she is working to close the gap of mental health care inadequacy and promote healthy futures for children and families healing from intergenerational trauma.

Carol firmly believes that positive change is not only possible but achievable. By providing culturally appropriate care and being the best possible advocate for a client on their health and wellness journey, she instills trust and reassurance in the process of healing. Her passion for educating providers, communities, and partners on historical and intergenerational trauma underscores her professional qualifications.
